It is over
It is now in the past

I must put it out of my mind
My focus now is towards the future
"Who's Hiding Behind that dollar?"
2007
Acrylic on Canvas
16x20"
Words:
Who's hiding behind that dollar? Whose self identity is the sum of their accounts?
Who are you? Where is your core?
What sets you apart from every other big spender?
What is there when the shinny and new looses its luster?
If ever your account were to run dry-that very last dollar snatched away-would you lose yourself?
Would such a loss cause the end of your existence?

You give me strength
When I can't get out of bed. When what is the point of facing the day ahead
You give me strength
When I am lost and just waiting for time to pass me by
You give me strength
When I see the light in your eyes, when your smile glows like the sun
I find my strength
When I see your energy and excitement to face another day
I find my strength
When I hear your sweet little voice yell mommy, mommy, mommy,
Then I know I've found my strength.

Your are with me moments before I drift to sleep and there vividly and endlessly loving me in my dreams.
I wake in the morning saddened by the halt of the dreams ending and sad to say goodbye.
Then I rise to push myself froward to face another day of missing you.

Sometimes I just don't feel like being around people, it's a burden to even try.

because I know that it symbolizes all the things I have grown to be.

"Why Did I Run?"
2006
Oil on Canvas
16"x20"
WORDS:
Why did I run?
It was anger and resentment for how I was treated in the past.
I had no idea I was carting it around with me so visibly for the world to see it hovering over me,
turning many people away from me. No one had the time or patience for me so I ran.
I ran past everyone who turned their nose up at me and even the people who made time for me.
I ran until I reached the ocean, I dropped to my knees freed from everybody and everything.
A wave came crashing over me knocking me to the sand.
Once the waters were gone I stood and felt myself again. I was the person I had lost so long ago.
The ocean washed away all my anger and insecurities and left me open.
A new person to start again.

"Diary"
2007
16"x20"
Acrylic on Paper
WORDS:
I'm putting feelings into words. expressing every emotion I've felt.
Giving the greatest pain a description.
Painting a picture drawn from verbiage to be interpreted as a mirror reflection of my strongest emotions.
Hoping you will take a journey throughout my revolving state of mind and letting it be known
that each feeling is a gift that I wish to share with you.
I'm boldly stating our common ground.
My diary may be a reflection of yours.
My experiences may read like thoughts which have passed through your mind.
We've all faced similar pains;
This is my way of dealing with mine.

"We will Be Brought Back"
2005
Acrylic on Canvas
12"x24
WORDS:
We will be brought back to what is important.
We are being shown how easily possessions can be wiped away.
We are seeing the nature of the earth ravishing, frightening, yet righteously determined.
Through destruction and despair, concern for human life is now priority. Shinning self indulgence now demolished.
Bringing back the deep and intangible real. Real is daunting and unstable.
It rises and falls with the crashing of the waves and the recession of the tides.
And as the tide recedes we will sift through the sands.
Then we will get the message.
"Life"
2007
Acrylic on Canvas

Although painstaking, the rain is necessary. It feeds our earth and helps us grow.
Just as pain nourishes us with understanding and empathy.
Helping in the growth of a full individual.
So bare the pain, embrace the nourishment of the rain.
know that with each passing storm is planted strength,
A strength which may help you to guide someone els through a familiar storm.

Emotions stronger than words could express but love is always there.
Love is present in all situations.
Noticing the loss of a precious life is love.
Feeling grief from a whole in your heart is love.
Love is ever present. It surrounds our very existence.
Being able to feel such pain is a part of universal love.
Through this grief we are able to understand life and how fragile a gift we have relieved.
"How We Love"
2007
14"x19"
Acrylic on Paper
WORDS:
They don't understand how we love.
They have no idea how much we are able to give
We love with our whole bing
We give our heart and every thought to them.
They couldn't understand how we are able to love.
I know they can't see it. I don't even think they are able to feel it.
How can we give so much energy, so many thoughts and so many hopes to them without them having a clue?
When will it finally make since to then?
When will they understand the beauty that is a womans love?

"Believe"
2007
Oil on Canvas
22"x28"

Believe your decisions are based on integrity and refusal to give into conformity.
You are not making unwise decisions you are implementing brave ones.
Not many people believe in themselves enough to make dramatic changes based on
what they hold to be right versus what they are told is true.
Remain strong, stay focused and believe in yourself.
You are, as you know in your heart and feel within your gut, much more that what
others think of you and would like to limit you to become.

"What I See"
2007
Oil on Canvas
24"x30"
WORDS:
I've seen religion used as a means for self glory.
A way to set oneself at center stage in hopes of becoming the true item of worship.
A way to stand before and feel above the people who have come to praise a higher spirit as though becoming more than human.
No longer shoulder to shoulder with their fellow man.
Forgetting they too are but a man. A human being who has and will continue to make mistakes.
I've seen people become lost as to what they have come to worship, lost in the efforts to impress their peers.
Allowing peer acceptance and materialism to become the main focus of their intensions.
What should I see?
A pure and simple love with understanding would be uplifting,
paired with a focus on humanity and selfless giving.

"Don't Give Up"
2007
Acrylic on Canvas
24"x30"
Self Portrait
WORDS:
Remember,
It's easy to go after your dreams
It's hard to see people unwilling to invest in your determination
It's hard to wait for someone to invest in you
It's hard when no none sees your strengths and ambition
It's hard to have to wait
It's hard to need help
It's so hard not to just give up
But-Don't give up.
